Thanksgiving Book Basket
Thanksgiving Picture Books 2020
Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday!
Cool weather, cooking, a focus on gratitude… oh and pie! Really, there’s just no better time of year.
Thanksgiving was actually the very first theme we ever used for a book basket in our home.
Over a decade ago, when my oldest children were just toddlers, we took a morning and escaped to our local library.
The kids needed some new books to read and Mama desperately needed a pumpkin spice latte and a trip out of the house!
As we walked into the children’s section, we were greeted by a Thanksgiving book display.
Dozen of books about turkeys, football, and being thankful. In a matter of moments our arms were full of Thanksgiving titles.
When we got back home, I tucked all of them in a basket on our fireplace. And day after day, I noticed that the kids just naturally gravitated to the basket.
They would grab a book or two and cuddle up to read without being prompted.
I watched in amazement!
Just the presence of books on their level inspired them to read.
And so the tradition of a book basket began in our home. It’s now over 10 years later and I have no regrets!
A stack of colorful board books will tempt even the most active toddler to curl up on the couch and read!
Grab some coffee & get cozy. We’ll chat about picture books for kids featuring:
Gratitude & Thanks
Feasts & Turkeys
Squanto & the Pilgrims
and so much more!
I’ll share our favorite titles, give you a brief summary of each book, and even preview a few pages & illustrations.
